A Low Carb Diet

Posted in Health, Diet & Fitness | 1 comment

Huh?! Another blurb about dieting? Indulge me ok? Hahaha, its something that is dominating my consciousness for the past few weeks. I’m simply happy that I finally found a dieting way to help me lose the extra pounds. I’m not sure yet if this would work for a long time and if I would manage to achieve my weight loss goal, but things are looking rosy and I can’t help but be positive.

I realize now that nothing really beats going on good old diet and exercise, not even the best fat burners. What is currently working for me is a low-carb diet. I picked South Beach Diet simply because while it is the same as other Low carb diets, it is different in a way that it chooses unsaturated fat vs. saturated fat.

Low carb diet is really effective in jump starting your weight loss mainly because it requires an almost total withdrawal from carbohydrates forcing our body to use stored fats. This is usually in Phase I. Then Phase II, you’ll be adding gradually small amounts of carbo and this way, I have managed to find and adjust to eating a good and healthy amount of carbohydrates.

One thing about this diet, you have to drink plenty of fluids specially water and a doctor friend, also advised me to take a daily multivitamin to ensure that my body is receiving the right nutrients. I have also started to exercise more regularly since after losing the fat, its expected that you will lose muscles, so muscles can be maintained by some strength training.

Foods That Speed Up Weight Loss

Posted in Beauty, Health, Diet & Fitness | 0 comments

A week ago I started a diet. South Beach Diet to be exact and its doing great. I’m shedding kilos without actually getting hungry hehe. And I’m still doing my exercise routines to go with the diet. So, its quite safe to say that right now, I’m plenty preoccupied with dieting, weight loss, fitness and no I don’t have room right now in my time to search for car insurance quotes which I am supposed to do. Lol! I’m really ecstatic enough that my usual fickle-minded self is absorbed on this goal: to lose weight.

Anyway, weight loss crazed that I am, I’ve been browsing online for some healthy eating articles and I came across an article in Yahoo Health. It’s all about seven foods that speed up weight loss.

1. Cheese.
2. Almonds.
3. Coffee.
4. Peppers.
5. Green Tea.
6. Eggs.
7. Portobello Mushrooms.

Read the entire article from the link above. =)

Working on: A Blog Enhancement!!

Posted in Girl Talk | 0 comments

I’m on the roll lately, with lots of personal enhancements hehe in line. What with my easy weight loss program, {well, not really that easy!}, buying some new dresses coz I wanna have a new ‘me’ and experimenting with a different style, and planning some more self-improvement moves and being more decisive about the future..

Well, I think that all improvements should be made on all aspects of my life. Including my blogs! Yep!!! I was just done making archives and index pages for some of my older blogs. Then I redid the template for this blog, of course the template is from the uber awesome Elegant Themes.

I also wanted to add some more value to this blog so I’m embarking on a new project related to this blog – a SHOPPING DIRECTORY! I’m still in the process of choosing which plugins to use coz I want a directory where I could add a screenshot of the website, description, etc..

I figured this would be the next best thing to add to this site since I usually am on the hunt for online shopping sites especially those selling clothing, shoes, accessories and women’s trinkets online.

Hopefully, I’ll be able to have this running before the month ends…Suggestions, comments are most welcome. Drop me a note via my contact page =)

Calorie Burning Activities!

Posted in Beauty, Health, Diet & Fitness | 2 comments

I’ve just weighed myself and horrors! I’ve been stepping up my exercise routine and eating less fatty stuff but not much improvement..**Sigh** It has been a hard thing for the past three years for me to lose weight. Mostly my fault, coz I’m not consistent and I tend to fall into those quick weight loss fads which is not really effective for me.

I realize my problem is that I’m constantly inactive. Knowing that work usually binds me to my desk and chair for hours, I realized that I should really set aside some time to exercise – CONSISTENTLY!!! I don’t really have a problem with food coz I find it easy to eat healthy and curb those cravings when it hits me and I hardly need any phentermine to suppress my appetite. So its really the exercise that I should try to get off the ground.

A friend of mine who is a fitness instructor advised me to do some cardio, calorie burning exercise and add some light strength training exercises. I bought myself a pair of dumbbells a couple of weeks ago and I’ve been consistently using it for two weeks already. Slow results but I could definitely notice some changes. Less jiggly arms and now my arms are starting to look toned. And of course, I’m so ecstatic.

As for the exercises and cardio, well that’s a different story. I should be consistent I know. Right now, I’ve settled into jumping rope, everyday for at least 30 minutes. I’m looking for other forms of exercises that would suit me and would also burn calories for me. I came across a featured slideshow in iVillage – Which Burns Most Calories and it has some interesting bits I’d like to share..

Tricks To Speeding Up Metabolism

Posted in Health, Diet & Fitness | 0 comments

I’m one of those genetically unlucky women who has a really really slow metabolic rate. How I envy those who could eat truckloads but not even gain an ounce. But I realize I have to do something about this. When I was a teenager, though I have slow metabolism, I always have a healthy weight. Even in my 20′s I had that ‘just right’ body weight.

Everything went downhill after I gave birth to my child. And my weight gain was not helped when I quit working and starting working from home. I had my jewelry business and working was done mostly sitting down. Talk about a drastic change in my physical activities. When the business was doing good I had tons to do and exercise was put on the back burner. Before I realized it, I gained lots already. Oh, I’ve tried a smorgasbord of diets, weight loss drinks, at one time I did even try diet pills but none of them worked. Sure, I lost some weight but I did easily gained it all back after a month or two.

Now I’m in a serious dilemma coz I’m working online on my blogs so I sit down a lot of times. Losing weight is now becoming an almost obsession to me. For two weeks now I’ve been doing lots of research and I’m starting to realize where I’ve gone wrong.. I realized I’ve got to improve the rate of my metabolism, knowing that I am sedentary most of the day just prompts me now to do something to remedy the situation.

One article I read on Yahoo! Health discusses 7 tricks to a speedier metabolism. Click on the link to read the full article. But in summary, the article lists down the following ways to increase our metabolic rate and therefore increasing the rate we burn calories..

  • Get more than 5 hours of sleep. – I am so guilty of this! I always sleep late and wake up early so the whole day I mostly feel lethargic.
  • De-stress – true. Whenever I am stressed I tend to binge.
  • Do not skip breakfast – At least this one I am religiously following.
  • Get out of the chair - “Staying on your feet revs metabolism and doubles your calorie burn during workdays”..
  • Avoid junk foods – “Junk food might stimulate a gene that encourages your body to store excess fat, causing you to gain weight over time.”
  • Avoid falling into workout rut – when weight loss plateau arrives, I often lose interest. Experts advice continously eating a healthy diet and trying out new workout routines.
  • Add some weight exercises – muscles help in burning calories so don’t dodge the weight training room. “Add weight-bearing exercises like planks, lunges, squats and tricep dips to your workouts three times a week.”
