Sulwhasoo’s Hydro-aid Lifting Eye Serum
There are days that I am so enamored with all girly things, and that includes cosmetics. When this hits me, I the nerd in me takes a backseat, so instead of looking at computer carts and collecting gadgets, I turn into collecting skin care products. I’ve just recently discovered Gmarket and has been dipping my fingers now on Asian skin care products for the past few months. And I’m loving it and it also makes sense to me that Asian skin care products work really well for me coz I am Asian! Hahaha..
Most of the products I buy though goes to some other people. A lot of them don’t work for me so they make really good gifts or giveaways. Also most of the time, I find myself buying something because I got so attracted by the packaging. And I love looking at it displayed on my dressing table. Yes, I’m weird like that.
One of the first things I looked for when I was buying sample sets of Korean skin care products were eye serums. I have really bad looking eye bags, perhaps this is genetic? and also compounded by me not sleeping as much as I need to. So I hauled some Sulwhasoo and O Hui eye creams and serums. I just bought sample sets because I wanted to try which one would work best for me. For the past few months I had been trying Sulwhasoo Hydro-aid Moisturizing Lifting Eye Serum.
This is not my first time to try a Sulwhasoo product. An aunt gifted me with a face serum a few years ago, and I loved it to bits. But once I finished it all, I couldn’t afford to buy the full size. These products are really pricey, usually on the $50 up range.
So how was the eye serum? The serum itself is almost translucent and very very mildly scented. It’s not thick at all and easily absorbed by the skin. The lifting effect was noticeable after about two weeks of use. I can hardly believe that my eye bags actually got lighter and the skin around the eye a bit firmer. At least now I don’t resemble a raccoon!
You also got to love the packaging. Even in the sample satchets. It has that luxurious look and I’m just a sucker for elegant and understated packaging. I would definitely be buying a full sized bottle of this one. And this would be a regular for me now. Learn more about Sulwhasoo Hydro-aid Moisturizing Lifting Eye Serum.
Review: Kurstie Kiwi Fruit + Aloe Gel Mask
Yikes, I almost forgot I promised a review on the stuff I purchased last time {see my mini drug store haul}. Blame it on Twitter, house chores and my constant Illustrator doodling for some invitations project I was working on. Anyway, I’ve tried using the Kurstie Kiwi Fruit + Aloe Gel Mask for several times already.

And here’s what I have to say about it:
- The Gel Mask: Clear looking, sticky like most gel masks. I’m not a big fan of its fragrance I find it too masculine and I feel like someone is dangling a bunch of grass on my nose when I put on the mask. The application is easy enough though.
- Skin Reaction: Not much. Some masks leave my skin dewy and really supple. But this one, aside from the slight tightening effect, had nada effect on me. Then on my third use, my face felt really itchy I had to remove the whole thing from my face and rinse my face for the itch to come off.
- Packaging: Ugh. Can’t this company get a better package designer?
- Price: I guess that’s the only thing I like about this. Lol. I got this for just $3.90.
Mini Drugstore Skincare Haul #1
A few days ago I mentioned streamlining this blog and making some changes. Well, apart from changing the whole new look of the site, I will also be cutting down some of my now ‘bewildering’ categories. I’ve decided to focus on three main things on this blog – Beauty, Fashion, Health and Fitness. For the most part I’ve been so focused on fashion and I don’t plan to cut back on that coz I enjoy scouring for fashion finds and trend watching. But I’ll be cleaning up my categories about Fashion. And since I’m also on a constant diet, then health and fitness category would be more prominent. So do bear with me if the site appears glitchy in the next few days or so, I’ll be having some door kick plates overhauling so to speak .
One big thing I’ll be adding on the blog is the Beauty section. Mainly skin care products, tips and my newbie foray into makeup. I am crazy about skin care. It’s a passion for me so its just natural that I hoard skin care products and it suddenly occurred to me why the heck I’m not doing any posts or reviews about products I tested? So I’ll be adding skin care product reviews and since I’ll be trying out make up soon, that will be occasionally added as well.
I love trying out new products particularly skin care stuff. And its actually a bad thing to drag me into a drug store or a cosmetics store coz I usually end up buying one or two {sometimes more!} products to try out. Just recently I was jogging and passed by a drugstore. Well, I got sidetracked and came home with this:

These stuff were on sale. Kurstie Kiwi and Aloe Gel Mask ($5.90 got it for $3.90) , Kurstie Mosquito repellent lotion ($5.90 got it for $3.90) and Bello Facial Mask in Pearl ($.95).
First impressions? The Kurstie stuff were just cheap for $3.90, I find the packaging to be off. Like this company could hire a better package designer don’t you think? I haven’t tried all yet but for sure I’ll be reviewing each here.

I’m mad about skin care. I shop like mad for skin care products, but though I’m a bit like a hoarder when it comes to skin care stuff, I always end up giving out what I buy. Lol! I love trying out new things but I always stick to the one that works for me. As for make-up, well…I’m not really that into it before. Mainly coz I’m too lazy to be bothered to put on makeup and also I don’t know how. I guess I didn’t have the patience. I also preferred the natural/nude look on my face {hahaha! that’s an excuse I know..} so I just stick to plain compact powders and lip gloss. I sometimes dab on a little mascara if I’m in a pissy mood but that’s the rest of my makeup regimen.
Lately though, I feel like I want to experiment and learn more about makeup. The only thing I fear though is if I invest on good makeup and end up going back to my old habit of not putting it on. But then I’m all psyched up and at least I would like to give makeup a go. At the very least I want to know how to properly apply an eye liner. At least the next time I need to have a full makeup face, I don’t need to sit for hours in a salon.
So now this has become a bit of mania for me. I’ll be trying out more skin care stuff and will try to learn more about make-up. I know learning how to apply make-up would be like trying to figure out Aquatell.com reverse osmosis and how it works, but I wanna give it a shot. I guess now I fancy myself as a really ‘kikay’ girl.

Getting soft and smoother skin can’t happen magically nor can you have it overnight. Unless you’re born with it, it would need some consistent care routines. These are some easy tips applicable to most skin types.
- When showering or bathing, its better to use lukewarm water than hot water. Hot water can dry out your skin.
- When exfoliating, do scrub gently.Abrasive scrubbing can cause skin breakage. Do this twice or thrice a week for a smoother skin.
- Use moisturizing or skin softening soap when you are not exfoliating. This would make your skin softer and more supple and not easily dry out.
- Pat your skin dry with a soft towel after showering or bathing. Don’t scrub with the towel, remember, just pat it dry.
- Moisturize with lotion. Pick one that is not heavy with perfume and just right for your skin.
- Don’t just moisturize after shower. Make sure you apply your lotion or moisturizing oil a few time per day.
- If your hands and feet are extra dry, try soaking it in lukewarm water for at least 15 minutes then applying lotion, oil or petroleum jelly before sleeping. Put on a pair of socks to protect them specially if you’re staying in a cold room.
- Choose the skin care products you apply. Products with too many ingredient may bring in more ‘bad’ results than good. When choosing creams like acne cream, anti-aging cream better choose what would be best for your skin type and if you’re not sure check with your dermatologist.
- Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day. This would keep your skin hydrated, soft and fresh looking.
