Personal Project: Learning More About Skin Care
I am doing a lot of reading lately about skin care products and their ingredients. Why so? I find it interesting and I’m curious. In any case its a lot better reading that instead of researching xbox network cable and xbox hacks which my brother has been bugging me to do. I think I still owe him that for later.

But anyway, with hundreds if not thousands of skin care products I keep seeing on the beauty store shelves, its not unusual to be confused about what exactly to look for. Advertising is also a great influence and I find myself favoring one product simply because I love their campaign or I like their spokesperson. But somehow, I’ve been trying to go beyond that and concentrate not on the name/brand but more on what is inside that little bottle.
All skin care products promise this and that. But more often than not the ingredients they list are just what I would coin ‘bloatware’. Something that they add to make it sound good and attractive to buyers. It helps to do a bit of research or to follow the advice of your dermatologist on this.
I’ll be keeping you posted on some finds about skin care soon. Since this is an interest most women share, then I’ll be coming up with more posts on this.

Read MoreBuilding Your Own Website
For people who have very little computer and internet know-how, building websites can be really daunting. I was one of these before. Technologically challenged though I was, I also realized how important having a web presence is. This is all the more so if you have your own business or if you are a professional looking for projects or contracts.
The advantage with having a website is that, since the internet is free and widely accessible to different kinds of people, then you get more exposure for your business or for your services. It doesn’t limit you geographically, for example if you want to open a store, you can open it in your locality and people around the area serve as your customers but if you also have an online store, then you are widening your customer base. People from any place can buy from you.
Knowing the advantage a website can bring to my then business pushed me to study how to build a basic website. Thankfully, the net is awash with tools and tutorials to guide a total newbie like me. You can create free websites with free online website builders or if you want to take your website a notch further, then you can use one of those easy web site builders.
Surprisingly, using these easy website site builders is easy enough. Most of them have the WYSIWIG functionality that you don’t even need to know any programming language to come up with a really professional looking website.
If your just starting out or planning to build your first website, keep it simple, focused and do a bit of reading and research on tools you might want to use. It’s also a big help to visit sites with themes similar to what you have in mind to give you more ideas. And lastly, don’t get intimidated, don’t let the web conquer you, instead, do a little web conquering of your own.

I love DIY natural beauty products. That way, you save and you do away with harsh chemicals that are often present in store bought beauty products. I used to make my own lip balm, I usually mix my bath scrub salts and sometimes I make my own mask. My favorites would be avocado and also honey masks and this one looks interesting – Natural Oatmeal Mask.
Here’s a recipe I found in E-how, and its simple and easy enough to follow.
You’ll need:
1/2 cup hot water
2 tbsp plain yogurt
2 tbsp honey
1 egg white
1/3 cup oatmeal (quick/instant)
How To:
1. Add water to oatmeal and wait till it thickens.
2. Mix the rest of the ingredients together with the oatmeal mixture.
3. Apply the oatmeal mask to your face in a thin, even layer. leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes
4. Mask can be refrigerated up to a week.
Thinking Out Loud..
There’s something weird about me.. I like holding conversations, not just with anyone but with MYSELF! And I sometimes talk out loud to myself, but I usually do it when I’m alone lest people think I’m already a certified lunatic. But then again, instead of holding conversations with myself, why not hold conversations with my blog? At least that wouldn’t be so obvious.
Anyway, what got me into this mood? I was chatting on Facebook with a college buddy. We have a lot in common, were both so into fashion and trends. And I gave her the link for this blog and commanded requested her to check my fashion finds once in awhile. She then asked me how come I don’t consider putting up a fashion store since I’m so into shopping and trends?
I must admit, this thought has cross my mind a couple of times already. But there are just a couple of roadblocks that stops me from pursuing this. Do I have what it takes to run a full time business like that? I also worry about suppliers and also a big consideration is my current residence where customs and other business laws are not yet so clear and that worries me.
Another option is to open an online shop. At least I save on physical store costs and at the very least I won’t be needing epson receipt printers lol! Everything is done virtually. Sounds like a good option right but what would be my target market? And considering intense competition, how would I fare with this?
One might ask why I love putting up the negatives, but that’s the way I am, I prefer knowing what I might encounter. It’s like getting to know the enemy before going to war.
