Eight Superfoods for Dieting Women
I was browsing one of my favorite health and beauty sites – TotalBeauty.com and I came across an article listing 8 Must-Eat Superfoods and of course I got interested. Dr. Steven Pratt describes these superfoods, “These nutritional powerhouse foods are loaded with nutrients crucial to a healthy, long life.” I was thinking that these foods might be hard to get hold of, but surprisingly, these are easily available in supermarkets!
The article also stresses that its still better to pick out natural food over food supplements. I’m in total agreement with that. The same way why should we need weightloss pills when we could go and lose weight the healthy way?
Here’s the list:
1. Kiwi – the antioxidant rockstar! Now this isn’t a hard thing coz I’m sure a lot would agree with me that kiwi is yummy! It packs a full day requirement of vitamin C and also has Vitamin A and E and lots of fiber.
2. Sweet Potato – lots of Vitamin A, C and potassium!
3. Salmon – packed with protein, low in calories and has lots of iron.
4. Dark Chocolate – Yay! Something that I would cheer on. Dr. Pratt says, “dark chocolate seems to contribute to lowering blood pressure, increasing blood flow, and ultimately contributing to a healthy heart.”
5. Garlic – rich amino acid called allicin as well as better-known compounds like selenium, zinc, potassium and phosphorous. Garlic is a known anti-cancer and also anti-viral and anti-inflammatory properties.
6. Quinoa – okay, I never heard of this till now, so what is Quinoa {pronounced ‘keen-wa’}. The article says, “It’s a grain that’s been a staple in South American cooking for 4,000 years. Quinoa is high in protein and fiber and is a good source of zinc, vitamin E and selenium, which have been linked to lowered risks for diabetes and heart disease.”
7. Beans – high in fiber and helps lower bad cholesterol.
8. Broccoli – some might not like the taste of broccoli, but I adore it! Rich in vitamin A, vitamin C and bone-building vitamin K and a whole lot of nutrients to fight cancer.
See, the list has some pretty easy things to buy and incorporate on our daily diet. I sure would be adding more of these in our menu..

Flowers make a great mood enhancer. They brighten up every nook and cranny and I think they make great all time and all season gifts. Like this time, it’ll be a great way to send a ‘Happy New Year’ and good luck on the new year message, then its a great idea to do so with a really pretty floral arrangement.
I personally love colorful, tropical blooms. Bright colors never fail to attract the eye and they really improve the ambiance. Good thing its an easy thing now to just order flowers if you don’t have any know how about arranging one for your home or for gifts. A lot of shops offer deliveries in a lot of localities like for example you’re in Georgia then its easy enough to search for Georgia flowers.
Why am I waxing on about floral arrangements? Well, I simply stumbled across this exotic orchids shipped in box from 1800-flowers and I suddenly wanted to go flower shopping. You know, just to liven up the rooms at home.

Video: Aromatherapy Recipe for Sinus and Chest Congestion
I have this thing about aromatherapy and alternative health care. I mean, I like taking care of myself and if there is a natural way to help prevent any ailments, then I’m bound to be interested in it. Not that I fancy myself holding healthcare jobs, I simply am very curious about what other means one can alleviate or prevent any disease.
One of the things I’m very interested in is natural remedies for those with sinus and asthma. My mom, my sister, me and my daughter has this problem. Just this past year, I found it very helpful to have regular facial saunas particularly when I have clogged nose. I rarely now have severe asthma attacks, and it just really helps the sneezing bouts. I found this video at E-how and its has some helpful and interesting tips..

Online Shopping Aficionada
That’s me all right. I’m totally addicted to shopping online. Whether its just online surf shopping (my version of window shopping hehe) to find out what’s the latest and what things are trending, to wading my way into Ebay’s awesome online auctions, to checking out the latest deals and sales, and hunting for coupons whenever I’m ready to make a purchase, to that giddy feelings of excitement while waiting for the things I purchase…Well, shopping online is just a never ending joy for me.
I know some are wary about shopping online without seeing the actual product and I also have some trepidation about this. Of course, the trick would be to go to highly reputable shopping sites, and if I am really tempted to try one site, I make sure I do lots and lots of research first. User reviews, testimonials, etc I really scour before I even bother letting go of a single dollar to an online vendor.
Though it has its disadvantages, online shopping for me offers a whole lot of advantages too. For one, I’m not geographically limited. I could practically shop for things that are in other countries too. Especially since I’m currently based in Cambodia where there’s not really much in terms of shopping venues.
Two, lots of unique, one off items you can only find online. So if you are that die hard fashionista and you are scared of showing up on a party wearing the same clothes as your arch rival then shopping online is a safe bet to score a one of a kind item.
Three, lots of great deals. If you know where to look you can get huge savings. I’m still actually stupefied that I joined an Ebay auction and I got a really nice wallet for only $1.99! How cool is that?!
Four, I don’t have to leave the comforts of my house. Hehe I am lazy sometimes so this works for me..
